Creative writing can be a powerful way to improve your expression both in your native language and a second language. It requires of you language “used to full stretch,” such that the whole range of meanings belonging to words and structures come into play. This is not a creative writing workshop, such as those taught at universities in the United States. For one thing, only a professional writer conducts such workshops, and I am not a professional writer. And the point of such workshops (like the Schule des Schreibens in Germany) is to promote potential writers of fiction. The point of this creative writing tutorial is rather to stretch your already advanced to superior English into areas where you have not taken it before, and thus to deepen your ability authentically to think and express yourself in the English language. To this end, we will perform quite diverse writing activities, but we will not teach you how to write a poem or a short story. Prerequisites You must be enrolled in an M.A. program. This is not a course for undergraduates (or for Erasmus students in so far as this means that students are not enrolled in an M.A. program).
