The course offers an introduction to the EU political and administrative system in terms of its key actors, institutional structure and decision-making procedures. Building on an overview of EU competencies and legislative rules, the course introduces theoretical approaches that seek to capture the political dynamics of supranational decision-making. Both empirically and theoretically, the focus is on recent EU affairs. The course is designed for students with little prior knowledge of EU politics as well as for students with a background in other areas of EU studies (such as EU integration, comparative European politics, etc).
The language of instruction is English. Written work may be submitted in either English or German.
