This advanced course supports the understanding of L2 practice and research through cutting-edge social studies on English language teaching and learning in global contexts. It introduces contemporary approaches to Second Language Acquisition by drawing on students prior knowledge of linguistics (pronunciation, lexis, grammar). Through participation in a variety of activities, students will: - develop a deeper understanding of L2 English learning and teaching in light of current discussions within social approaches to research in the field of second language acquisition - be able to establish links between theory and practice as well as between their own teaching contexts and other learning settings around the globe - demonstrate a basic understanding of the research questions that social approaches to L2 language learning and teaching investigate.
