Reading Song Lyrics (Critically) - Einzelansicht

In this course, we will critically 'read' song lyrics as a complex form of literature. I will argue that like in drama/theatre, the meaning of song lyrics can really only be undrestood in performance. We will therefore engage with theories of performance, social distinction, sound, multimedia, etc. Once a critical framework is established, students will research lyrics on their own and present in class.
