New data-intensive platforms and big data technologies have revolutionized accessibility to private data, as well as our approach to data collection, management and analysis. While these exciting innovations have a potential to create individual and public value, growing volumes of data generated across multiple channels present significant privacy challenges. Not only businesses, but also public organizations increasingly face these risks as more and more data on citizens is collected, stored and interconnected. Considering the dangers of these vulnerabilities, this seminar aims to sensitize students to these problems. The goal of this seminar is to give students an opportunity to conduct an in-depth analysis of one topic in this area. Possible topics include, but are not limited to:
Students will be required to get a deep understanding of the topic of their choice, present their findings at the mid-term and final presentations and write a final paper.

Interest in data privacy and research methods. This class is limited to 18 students; and takes place both in German and English. Presentations can be held in German or in English.
