One of the most famous verses in recent music history was misunderstood ever since it reached speakers of Standard English that are not familiar with the formulation of negative concord in Jamaican Creole. In this seminar students will be introduced to the notion of pidgins and creoles, furthermore we will be looking at English-based pidgins and creoles around the world and their distinctive linguistic features.
