The seminar will offer a linguistic perspective on this topic as well as a practical introduction to theories and methods of discourse linguistic approaches. In order to do so, we will get to know different theoretical perspectives over the semester. On the practical side, we will try out and develop a methodological ”tool box” through small analyses. The central focus in this endeavour will be on bringing out how discursive references, which may be found and analysed in particular texts or conversations, may lead to a traceable understanding of larger discourses based on the analysis of more comprehensive corpora.
IMPORTANT: Please note that the final 3 sessions of the seminar will have to be held en bloc (= in one longer session). This block-session will take place on July 14th, 2017 from 2.00-7:00 p.m.. Please make sure that you can attend this session. Urgent inquiries regarding this special regulation may be directed to Ms Hoefler at the following e-mail address: hoefler@europa-uni.de
