We will focus on the four key skills: speaking (with a special focus on pronunciation), listening, reading, and writing. A review of the key ”B2” level grammar skills also forms a core part of the course. Course materials and topics have been selected so as to be relevant to future primary teachers. Students will be presenting on a regular basis and also evaluating and presenting a children’s book of their choosing – selected from the Recommended Children’s Books from the Brandenburg Guidelines. These activities will increase the prospective teachers’ familiarity with the literature while introducing them to potential classroom resources and building confidence and vocabulary.
Independent study is an integral component of the course. Students are strongly encouraged to attend the Independent Pronunciation Coaching (your instructor will provide you with information; see also the departmental website.
