New course description:

Cultural Linguistics studies the relationship between language, culture and cultural conceptualizations. Specifically, we will look at how individual experiences and cultural settings influence cognition, which eventually shape the language we speak. In this seminar, students will be introduced to the theoretical framework and analytical tools of Cultural Linguistics, such as cultural schemas, cultural conceptualizations and cultural cognition. On the basis of this toolkit, students will be required to work on their own research projects, which will be presented in class.

Assessment: presentation (50%) + mock exam (50%)
