Ethical Issues in Technology Policy - Einzelansicht

In this theoretically-focused seminar, we will study ethical issues arising in the governance and regulation of technology. The course will begin with an introduction to general philosophical theories of ethics, as well as the ethics of technology. We will then look at specific technologies and issues, such as speech on social media, artificial intelligence, and geo-engineering interventions in the climate system. Students are also able to suggest additional technologies and topics. Students will form groups to do independent research on a selected technology and ethical issues arising in its regulation. They will then present their findings in a group presentation. It is also possible to complete the module examination in the form of a long essay on a question related to the seminar.
