The English Language through the Ages - Einzelansicht

The course will consider how English originated as a language and how it developed from the earliest times to the present day. It will examine some of the more important linguistic aspects of the history of English, as evidenced by texts from the earliest (Anglo-Saxon) to the modern period, and the development of English in the colonies, in particular the United States. The historical background, in as far as it is relevant to the linguistic development, will also be provided. Course material will be made available on Moodle.
