Signalverarbeitung - Einzelansicht

The speech signal is immensely varied and can convey a vast amount of information. To fully appreciate and understand its richness, a solid grasp of signal processing is essential. This course introduces the main signals for speech – acoustic, behavioural, neurophysiological and articulatory signals. The course is lab-based in nature and, therefore, it has a strong emphasis on practical and analytical work using a range of data. It complements more theory-oriented topics in linguistics, such as language acquisition, phonology and psycholinguistics, by delving deeper into the methodological issues of data collection, processing and analysis. The course is particularly useful for future research projects and potentially career options in speech technology. The course is worth 3 LP and is part of the 6-LP module LIN-BS-028 Empirische Methoden in der Grammatikforschung. The language of instruction is English.
