The course is primarily designed for Englisch Lehramt and B2 Anglistik/Amerikanistik students.
However, students who are not Englisch Lehramt or B2 Anglistik/Amerikanistik students but who are eligible to earn Studiumplus credits can earn credit in the module Ba-SK-Z-3 - Interkulturelle Kommunikation by taking Dr. Prickett's section of this course (Group 1, Mondays 10 - 12).

In accordance with University of Potsdam policy (§ 17 BAMA(LA)-O), the Department of English / Philology has defined the unauthorized the use of AI tools, including ChatGPT, to complete graded assessments or exams in the Department's courses. It is unauthorized to use AI to formulate arguments or to summarize or contextualize source materials or to incorporate any part of an AI-generated response in a graded assignment or exam. Such unauthorized use is, by definition, a "Täuschung," and will be dealt with accordingly.
Lerninhalte: This two-hour writing course centers on essay writing and the argumentative essay in particular. Upon completion of this course, students will be able- to express themselves using nuanced language (improved accuracy and appropriacy of writing)- to produce cohesive and coherent academic writing (improved complexity and effectiveness of writing)- to identify and produce various types of academic texts- to evaluate their own and others' texts (peer review)- to assess and cite (MLA) appropriate sources properlyStudents are strongly encouraged to consult with the Writing Assistance Program at Zessko (this is not a course tutorial).
Zielgruppe: Studierende der Anglistik/Amerikanistik und des LA EnglischAre you an exchange student (Erasmus or other program)?Due to the limited number of spots in our courses, our department and the University of Potsdam's International Office have developed the following guidelines for Erasmus students:- Erasmus and other exchange students will not be automatically admitted to courses.- limited course spots (2 in "Hörverstehen und mündlicher Ausdruck I," 2 in "Übersetzen," and 1 in "Hörverstehen und mündlicher Ausdruck II") will be reserved for Erasmus students whose major is English and/or American Studies.- On a case by case basis, Erasmus students might be permitted to attend language courses at the Institut für Anglistik und Amerikanistik (Masters-level courses).
