This bachelor course provides an introductory overview of the field of bilingualism, considering bilingualism from a range of different perspectives including those of linguistics, psycholinguistics and neurolinguistics. Specific topics to be covered include: bilingual research methods; bilingual mental models; bilingual linguistic and cognitive development; second language acquisition; bilingualism and executive functioning; multilingual processing and aging; bilingualism and language disorders; and code switching.
Prior completion of LIN-BS-015 "Introduction to Psycho- and Neurolinguistics" (or equivalent) is strongly recommended.
