This class is a project seminar for students in Cognitive Systems, dealing with "question processing" in NLP, conceived broadly.

In the first part, we will look at different NLP tasks related to questions (question classification, question generation, question answering, etc.). The virtual format of this class will consist in us reading and discussing research papers together. We will also study and discuss existing datasets and resources.

In the second part of the class, we will settle on group projects related to question processing using and extending available tools and datasets.

Topics:

   - question detection
   - question typology
   - question generation
   - question answering
   - questions in dialog

Requirements:

   - regular and active participation: reading papers, answering discussion questions, participation in a few virtual classes.
   - presentation of a research paper to your peers
   - group project
   - term paper (20 pages!)
   - final presentation of your project - in the Fall semester CogSys poster slam
