Lerninhalte

Social Media has revolutionized the way we communicate, present ourselves and get to know others. On the organizational level, social media changes the way companies do marketing and develop brands. As a result, there is a growing interest in understanding how the use of these applications and approaches are changing individual perceptions and behavior, businesses, public sector, and society in general. Tapping into this interest, the goal of this seminar is to give students the opportunity to conduct an in-depth analysis of one topic in a relevant research area.

Possible areas of research include, but are not limited to:

  • Applications of Social Media in Businesses
  • Applications of Social Media in the Public Sector
  • Content Strategy for Start-Ups
  • Content Strategy for NGOs
  • Understanding Content Virality
  • Storytelling in Content Strategy
  • Consequences of Smartphone Addiction
  • Smartphone Addiction and Technostress
  • Privacy Concerns of Social Media Use
  • Firestorm Management on Social Media
  • Sentiment Analysis of Social Media Data
  • Legal Implications of Social Media Use for Businesses
  • Social Media for Refugees
  • Sharing Economy (e.g. Airbnb)

Students will be required to get a deep understanding of the topic of their choice, present their findings at the mid-term and final presentations and write a final paper. Presentations and campaigns could be made in either English or German.
