The objective of this course is to provide students with a Master's level introduction to important concepts in energy, resource and environmental economics. The course will stress interdependencies between these topic areas. Environmental consequences of energy use - including policy measures to address them - is a point of particular emphasis. In addition to covering theoretical concepts we will also study policy-related applications. The ultimate goal of the course is for students to develop the capacity to independently consider applied questions on energy markets and energy-related policy based on a solid economic foundation, with a view towards either practical application or as a basis for further study at a more advanced level.
References will be mentioned in the course, a manuscript will be available.
Course language is English. It is strongly recommended that course participants are familiar with the fundamentals of microeconomics.
