The objective of the seminar is for students to answer the following research question: how can non-governmental organizations influence global environmental policy?
To do so, each session will be devoted to a step of the research process. Students will be introduced to global environmental governance, they will operationalize the research question, search for literature, critically analyze said literature, and build on this new knowledge to devise a methodological approach to perform an empirical analysis (their term paper).
Students will not only develop their knowledge of global environmental governance, but also strengthen transversal skills such as critical thinking, academic writing, and oral presentations.
Considering that the course will be held in English (reading English texts and writing the report in English) students need good language skills to be able to actively participate in the class.
Studienleistung:
Active and regular participation in class, reading the material, timely submission of written assignments, preparation and presentation of an academic poster.
Prüfungsleistung:
Term paper.
