In this seminar we will look at literary and cultural abortion narratives. Abortion has become a hotly contested subject in recent years and we will trace historical changes in the discourse on it. We will also read and analyse abortion fiction, critically evaluate studies on this topic, and deconstruct arguments that have remained closely tied to this debate until today. The seminar mostly considers abortion in an Anglo-American context.

Please note that this seminar focuses on women's rights and therefore follows a pro-choice/ pro-abortion line of argument.
