This class represents one component of your module “Introduction to Anglophone Modernities”. While the lecture in the winter semester focuses on the specific perspectives of Modernity Studies as part of the wider field of literary and cultural studies, this class will revisit, refresh, and deepen your knowledge of cultural studies more in general. We will retrace the basic concepts and approaches of cultural studies and explore the theories further by studying the authors and theoretical texts that stand behind these theories. The class will provide you with a greater understanding of what cultural studies are, and what a cultural studies perspective consists of.
