This course is designed to provide undergraduate students with an overview of the economics of education. The focus of the course is on the analysis of markets for education and the incentives facing various actors in the education system, such as parents, students, and schools. Areas covered will include topics such as human capital theory, private and public returns to education, school choice systems, segregation, school quality, and others. Throughout the semester we will deal with theoretical and empirical aspects of education economics. The tutorials will further help grasp the empirical applications of the discussed topics. The goal of the course is to equip students with the tools necessary to understand and analyse broad education policies.
