Speaking skills are an important part of language competence. In this course we are going to study the processes involved in the development of speaking skills and discuss how to design effective classroom activities to encourage learners to talk and interact in English. Taking a look at different examples from the primary EFL classroom (using e.g. games, mini-dialogues, storytelling, role play and discussion activities), we will focus on material/task design and adress questions of differentiation, feedback, error correction and assessment. Participants will design lesson plans and material to be used in the classroom.
