In this seminar we will explore the multiple ways in which time is configured in and through cultural artefacts. The meetings will entail in-depth discussions of readings on topics such as* clock time, seasonal time, acceleration, 'saving' time, and other everyday concepts of time* queer, crip and other temporalitiesas well as* futurisms, including afrofuturism and Indigenous futurismsWe will also create a space for the discussion of the ways these frameworks help us to attend to cultural artefacts, crossing visual, audio-visual and popular art, (science) fiction, and everyday practices.
Anglophone Modernities students: brief essay (800 words; pass/fail). Students may also register separately to write a long research paper of 7000 words (graded).
Teacher Training students: brief essay (800 words; graded, ungraded in the case of Prüfungsnummer 262613). If enrolled in the 12-credit module with Prüfungsnummer 263843 they will also write a long research paper of approximately 6000 words (graded).
