Children enter our classrooms with different experiences, expectations, interests, abilities and learning styles, often coming from various social, cultural and language backgrounds. In the light of inclusive education, increased immigration and multilingualism, teachers are faced with increasingly heterogeneous classrooms. Diagnosing and responding to the learners' individual needs and finding ways to support them in reaching their potential can be a huge (and sometimes overwhelming) challenge for teachers.
In the course we will get to know some of the dimensions of learner heterogeneity and diversity. We will study the theoretical foundations and core principles of differentiated and individualised learning and review existing models of differentiated teaching. Taking a look at examples and teaching material for the primary EFL classroom, we will discuss strategies and methods that help you to differentiate your English lessons. Participants will design and evaluate tasks/activities (e.g. for speaking, writing, listening, reading) for learners with different abilities and needs.
Wichtig: Dieses Seminar richtet sich, anders als auf Puls verzeichnet, nur an Studierende der Primarstufe.
