This course is offered as an intensive course (90 minutes per day for 2 consecutive weeks; Monday through Friday). The course is suitable for participants who have no previous experience with digital image analysis or for those who already have some experience but want to gain a deeper understanding. The course covers the basics of digital image processing, introduces useful software tools, uses real-world examples and provides strategies for performing your own image analysis. Having your own laptop is very helpful, but not essential. If you do not have a laptop or other access to computers, please contact Dr. Schneider in advance. After attending this course, you will be able to conduct your scientific work using image analysis in a sound and independent manner, which will be equally useful to you in research and in the private sector.
The combination of the practical course "Image Analysis and Quantification" into an 8 LP module is primarily reserved for students who combine it with the lecture/seminar "Current Aspects and Methods of Plant Cell Biology" hosted by Prof. Grebe. If there are still places available, these will be allocated (at random) to those students who wish to combine the practical course with another course (V/S) from the modules BIO-B-WM4,5,6.
