The seminar will address the notion of practice by giving an account of the logical and irreducible concepts we need for having a representation of the practical surrounding in which we are embedded. This will make us able to conceive ourselves as the only species that is aware of its own life-form and of the practical and institutional forms of the associated life. We will also understand the implications that the notion of life-form has for a critical understanding of our society, norms and institutions. We will mostly put the focus on M. Thompson’s book "Life and Action” but we will also give an account of the theoretical connections to Aristotle, Hegel, Anscombe and P. Foot.
