Kommentar

We are going to study the Megillot (Biblical books) designated for liturgical readings throughout the Jewish yearcycle. We are going to study traditional and modern exegesis of these texts, their connection to the calendar, and their place in synagogal contexts.

This course is a continuation from the previous semester but is open to be attended by newcomers. During the summer semester we are going to study the megillot of Song of Songs (Shir HaShirim), Ruth and Lamentations (Eykha), as well as texts of modern commemorative days (Megilat HaShoah, Megilat Ha’Atzma’ut).
