Description

Threats to international security have changed, and so have the ways in which states and international institutions respond to these threats. This course introduces students to the study of International Security by looking at how the international community addresses war, civil conflict, terrorism, and human rights violations through foreign aid, sanctions, peacekeeping, and military intervention. The course engages with the key theoretical and empirical debates in International Security to understand why and when actors respond to security threats and how successful these responses are.
