Course overview
The competences of the European Union (EU) have gradually expanded over the last decades. In this BA course, we will examine various aspects of European policy-making and focus on the different stages in the policy cycle model. The following questions will guide the structure of the course: Which (political) actors have a decisive impact on the individual stages and how did their influence change over time? Which cooperative mechanisms exist between the European institutions and which policy modes are applied in the different policy sectors? What is the role of the member states with respect to EU policy implementation? These questions and the dynamics of European policy-making will be discussed in the light of different theoretical frameworks of European integration.Note:
Currently the BA course is scheduled as face-to face teaching at the University of Potsdam. As the situation with regard to distance and hygiene rules may change over the winter term, adjustments may likewise occur throughout the course.
