Judicialization of politics from a comparative perspective - Einzelansicht

The purpose of this course is to understand the concept of judicialization from a comparative perspective. We will focus on the different concepts of judicialization, in particular formal and genuine empowerment. We will for example ask how judicialization functions under democratic, autocratic and hybrid regimes and what the different functions and purposes might be. The background assumption is that judicialization is particularly salient in so-called mega politics, determining the political course of a country. The course is intended for students with an interest in law, political science and history. This seminar will be held online via Zoom.
