Main Chapters in Jewish Theology: From the Earliest sources in the Talmud to Post Talmudic Judaism - Einzelansicht

In this course we will discuss some key issues in Jewish theology; for example: worship of God, self-regulation, The concept of sacrifice, the centrality of the temple (and later on the Synagogue); Individual v. Community, the doctrine of miracles etc. In each topic we will start the discussion from what is to be found in the Talmudic sources – and from there on we will continue our study of the post-Talmudic sources (Jewish Philosophy and mystics) by examination of those traditions in relation to the Midrashic and Talmudic original sources.
