Tasks have become an integral part of teaching and learning in the communicative foreign language classroom. In this seminar, we will have a closer look at the characteristics of tasks, discuss different models and concepts of task-based and task-supported language teaching and learning and will work with textbook excerpt and selected video sequences featuring task-based approaches. Furthermore, we will discuss the specifics of working with TBLT in the primary EFL classroom and consider practical challenges of implementing TBLT with heterogeneous learner groups. Participants will either design and evaluate short teaching sequences (micro-teaching units) and materials to be used in the classroom or present a course topic based on the required readings.
