Introduction to Jewish Theology: Judaism as an academic discipline - Einzelansicht

The course is on the academic study of the Jewish religion at the university (not about the system of beliefs). I will choose some examples (for instance, Rabbinic Judaism and Hasidism) to illustrate differences and similarities. What difference does it make to study Talmud, Halakhah or Liturgy at the university? What different assumptions, frameworks, and methodologies do we bring to our study?
