A course that will explore the Seder Liturgy and its musical settings, with special emphasis on music for communal Seders. Repertoire will include traditional chant/Nusach as well as seder melodies from communities around the Jewish world. Weekly assignments will include music preparation and readings from My People's Passover Haggadah: Traditional Texts, Modern Commentaries Volume 1&2 Hardcover – February 1, 2008, by David Arnow PhD (Editor), Rabbi Lawrence A. Hoffman PhD (Editor, Contributor).As an end-term assignment, the students will prepare a detailed outline for a communal seder for their synagogue/community.
