This class traces colonial histories in North America via the histories of settler colonialism, enslavement, Indigenous and African American resistance, as well as religious and other conflicts among different groups of European colonizers. Topics include the settlement of Jamestown (1607), the captivity narrative of Mary Rowlandson (1682), and the Salem Witchcraft Trials (1692).
