This is the second semester of the specialized language course consisting of 2 semesters, which prepares students for UNIcert III English for the Natural Sciences.
The course is open to students who have completed UNIcert III/1 English for Natural Sciences. Cross-entry is possible with a placement test score of 80 and above.
The UNIcert® III English for the Natural Sciences Certificate is useful as a prerequisite for Master's degrees, internships, study abroad and your further career.
Original reading and listening texts from the specified subject areas provide the basis for discussions and lectures. Writing and speaking activities will prepare students to use academic and scientific genres necessary for post-graduate study. Such activities are also direct preparation for the UNIcert III English for the Natural Sciences Certificate exam.
Based on course input and your own work, topics may include but are not limited to population development, Darwin's theory of evolution, the oceans, aquatic and terrestrial environments/habitats, the earth's movements, human nutrition, space travel, bioethics, digital technology in the sciences.
Course attendance is mandatory for all groups. A student must attend 80% or more of the scheduled classes. If a student fails to meet the attendance requirement, they will not be permitted to take the certificate exams at the end of the semester.
Testing Fee: There is a one-time testing fee of 20 euros to take the series of UNIcert® certificate exams.
