Demography and social policy - Einzelansicht

This course will offer a mix of theory and practical application in demography and social policy analysis. Students will have the chance to delve into both theoretical concepts and discussions, and real-world (data) scenarios throughout the semester. For the applied practical part, students will select a population case study of their choice to follow closely. In some sessions, as we cover key demographic theories and discuss how they relate to different social conditions and policies, we will explore examples of social policies in various political and governmental contexts. In other sessions, students will be introduced to fundamental methodologies employed for analysing population dynamics and will gain hands-on experience using R for calculations and analysis. Throughout the semester, exercises will gradually build up to a final deliverable. Weekly participation is expected, so please attend the first session.
