Direct democracy in comparative perspective - Einzelansicht

ATTENTION! The first session (April  10) has to be cancelled due to illness. The course will start on April 17.

This course discusses direct democratic procedures from a comparative perspective, mainly focusing on referendum campaigns. Firstly, this includes the formal procedure, including initiatives, quorum rules and topic (restrictions). Secondly, the course will also focus on the effects and conditions of successful and failed referendum votes. For this purpose, the course draws on examples from the European Union, Switzerland, USA and the subnational level in Germany.

Note that this course includes combined double sessions in the second part of the semester (see table below and PULS calendar). Please make sure that there are no overlaps with other courses you have booked.
