Cultural Linguistics studies the relationship between the language – thought – culture triad and accesses a group’s cultural cognition through the language they speak. This seminar is divided into two parts. In part 1, students will encounter the theoretical and analytical basics of the framework, along with plenty of opportunity for discussion and practice. In part 2, participants will be guided through their own (small scale) research projects, where they get the opportunity to showcase their acquired skillset with a topic of their choice. The research projects will be conducted in small groups and presented in the form of a scientific poster. The details regarding the presentation will be discussed in class when the final number of participants is determined. The seminar will end with a joint evaluation of the research projects and posters by the plenum. All groups will receive detailed feedback on their performance from the lecturer.
For research purposes, please bring your electronic devices (pads, notebooks) to class.
