In this class, we will discuss theories of motivation, related to students and teachers with an emphasis not only on individual beliefs, values, and expectancies, but also how structural factors and incentive systems can be predictors of social and motivational outcomes. This seminar will use active learning techniques, small group discussion, and short lectures dedicated to introducing relevant educational theory.
