There is no monolithic doctrine in Judaism. All along Judaism had varieties of interpreting the Jewish tradition and adding to it. Various religious branches emerged as a result of the enlightenment in Europe and conquered the Jewish world from here, particularly in the U.S.A. Each of these movements offers a unique way of interpreting religious Jewish life in the present, and finds different answers to the questions posed by modern life. The seminar will introduce into this diversity of Jewish movements and its differences and similarities.
