This seminar will examine dramatic, poetic and narrative writing from the late 17th century (the period known as "The Restoration") and early 18th century. We will seek to understand how literature in this period reflected and responded to historical changes in Britain and around the world and changing ideas of what literature should and could be.
This is an introductory level course that will include practice in applying the methods of literary analysis and interpretation taught in the Introduction to Literary Studies lecture.
