This course explores the intersection between scientific knowledge and public policy, focusing on how evidence is generated, interpreted, and utilized in decision-making processes. We will critically examine the promises and challenges of evidence-based policymaking (EBPM) and policy evaluation by drawing on case studies from different policy fields. The course will introduce students to key theoretical perspectives and methods of policy evaluation while also engaging with the political, institutional, and methodological constraints that shape policy decisions.
