Description

Please follow the "comment" link above for more information on comments, course readings, course requirements and grading.

This course serves the dual purpose of an excursion and a seminar. The main objective is to gain a first-hand insight into the linguistic situation in South Africa, with a special focus on English. Students will be matched with local South African students to conduct small-scale socio-linguistic fieldwork, as part of the requirement to pass this course. Ancillary goals are to gain intercultural experience and to contribute to the development of a university partnership. Note: The list of participants has already been finalized.
