Description Please follow the "comment" link above for more information on comments, course readings, course requirements and grading.

This course focuses on contemporarys key concern with (concepts of) history. Again and again also British fiction has been concerned with history - both as topic and concept. Particularly since the 1980s (postmodern) writers have given us new perspectives by rewriting key narratives of previous centuries a major concern of other authors has been to sketch national, local or individual family histories of a new, colourful Britain.
The course will introduce varieties of (hi)story-telling, incl. postmodern narrative strategies of some major texts (Lodge, Barnes, Evaristo, Cunningham, Ackroyd, Fitzgerald, Kay et al.)
Literature Please, ask via email. I suggest preparatory reading of some of the ed texts during the winter break.
Certificates Project work with oral presentation shorter assignments of reviewing research texts.
