Description

This lecture course is designed to give students an overview and selected in-depth knowledge of some of the most formative theoretical work employed in American Studies and related fields, drawing on theories of psychoanalysis, structuralism, poststructuralism and deconstruction, New Historicism, postcolonial studies, ethnic studies, gender studies, Atlantic and Pacific studies, ecocriticism, and media studies.

This class has a considerable workload of reading assignments. Students are expected to read all course texts for the respective sessions.
