Introduction to Conflict Management and Resolution - Einzelansicht

The seminar gives an introduction to the current theoretical, empirical and methodological state-of-the-art of conflict management & -resolution and the role of international organizations and non-state actors. Topics included are conflict theory, causes and types of intrastate and inter-state conflict, conflict management tools such as alliances/balancing, coercive diplomacy/sanctions, mediation, adjudication and arbitration, prevention, (humanitarian) intervention and R2P, post-conflict peace-building and reconstruction, transitional justice and reconciliation, interim administrations, the UN, regional organizations as well as track two diplomacy and the role of TNCs and NGOs in peacemaking.
