The UNIcert® IV/1 English for Economics and Business Studies

Certificate: The UNIcert® IV English for Economics and Business Studies certificate is awarded upon successful completion of the UNIcert® IV certificate exam following the UNIcert® IV/2 course.

English for Economics and Business Studies UNIcert® IV/1 The first part of this subject-specific course, which requires a result of 90-100% on the placement test, prepares students for the UNIcert® IV/1 English for Economics and Business Studies non-certificate exam at the end of the course.

Please be aware that a score of 90 – 100% on the placement test qualifies students to take either UNIcert® III/2 English for Economics and Business Studies or UNIcert® IV/1 English for Economics and Business Studies.

The aim of this course is to strengthen students' English speaking and writing skills, develop analytical and critical thinking abilities and practice rhetorical constructions in the context of engaging in business cases developed by leading business schools. Working in student-selected pairs and on a strict deadline, each pair will choose a case study to analyze based on their areas of interest and then present possible solutions in a final presentation, giving evidence based on independent research and discovery why their proposed solution is the best of possible alternatives. The final written and oral exams will further test the students’ critical thinking skills, as well as their analytical and rhetorical abilities in examining the business cases presented during the semester.
