A rapidly globalizing world with decreasing relevance to geo-political borders is looming large in front of the world's people today. Constantly living under the pressure of greater challenges and fewer opportunities seems to bring a common denominator of similar goals for all. If so, then how relevant is Hinduism in this context? An important focus of the seminar would be to explore its possible connect regarding the same. We will look at the religion which is commonly known as Hinduism and is often seen as one with a huge body of literature, knowledge and documented in the antiquated language of Sanskrit. The objective of the seminar would be to both familiarise and invite young minds to explore and research the often normative posits of this Vedic thought and way of life and its applicability today based on an educated and well informed approach.

We will study sections from classical texts like the Vedas, the Mahabharata, and several Hindu philosophers (Shankara, Vivekananda). In separate sessions we will try to apply the texts on modern issues like the role of women, the problem of ecology and the culture of dialogue.

Many of the topics have been chosen in such a way that they lend themselves for easy cross references. This makes it both interesting and beneficial for the student to understand them as a comprehensive whole rather than in disjointed bits.
