In this course, we will critically analyse and interpret texts which deal with the transatlantic slave trade. This will include historical material such as Olaudah Equianos Interesting Narrative, yet we will mainly focus on a range of contemporary novels which take very different approaches to the past.

It is recommend to start reading Equiano's autobiography and the novels before the beginning of term.
